Le Vieux Montmartre collection

Le Vieux Montmartre collection

The Société d’Histoire et d’Archéologie Le Vieux Montmartre, founded in 1886 and recognised in 1967 as being of public benefit (déclaration d’utilité publique), holds a collection of around 100,000 documents built up through donations and legacies. Many of the archives in this vast collection shed light on the musical and cultural history of this famous district of Paris known for its artistic life.

The first phase in the digitisation of this collection for Bru Zane Mediabase was carried out during the 2024-25 season, with the focus on the activities of the chansonnier Aristide Bruant (1851-1925), to coincide with the centenary of his death.
