Mediabase

The Bru Zane Mediabase provides a wealth of information on the French musical heritage of an “expanded nineteenth century” – that is to say, covering the years from 1780 to 1920.

You will find introductory accounts (of persons, works, and various topics), written by musicologists and historians in collaboration with the team at the Palazzetto Bru Zane.

You will also be able to read and download numerous scientific articles on music and artistic life during the Romantic period, some of which are the result of symposia organised by the Centre de musique romantique française.

Iconographic or literary documents, taken for the most part from archival collections that have been digitised and catalogued, will enable you to embark on a virtual journey through the century of Berlioz and Victor Hugo.

Follow the links provided on each page in order to explore a musical world that was going through a period of vigorous artistic and intellectual activity.
